Meet the Teacher

Amber Snoke, Founder and Owner of Snoke English LLC, has been teaching since 2009. She holds a master's degree in English from North Carolina State University and has taught English, writing, and literature at the high school, and college levels.

Through Snoke English LLC, Amber provides personalized English instruction and writing support for middle and high school students through online courses, workshops, and tutoring.

1:1 English Tutoring

Personalized English support for high school and college students, including academic writing, essay development, research writing, literature, grammar, and other English skills. Sessions are customized to meet each student's needs, goals, and current coursework.

60-minute session: $50
45-minute session: $40

Sessions are available in 45- or 60-minute increments. Students receive individualized instruction designed to build confidence, strengthen skills, and achieve their goals in English.

Fall 2026 Mini-Term Class Registration Form

Academic Research & MLA
3 weeks · $60

Students learn the essential research skills needed for successful academic writing. Through step-by-step instruction and guided practice, they learn how to find and evaluate credible sources, document sources using MLA format, and effectively integrate quotations, paraphrases, and summaries while maintaining their own voice and ideas.

These skills are then applied through the creation of an annotated bibliography, giving students a practical research resource they can use as a foundation for future essays and research assignments. The course also includes instructor-created MLA reference guides for continued use beyond the course.

A complete research essay will not be required in this course. Instead, the focus is on building the research and documentation skills students need to confidently incorporate sources into future academic writing.

Expository Essay Writing
5 weeks · $100

Students learn how to plan, develop, and write a complete academic essay through a structured, step-by-step writing process. Beginning with brainstorming and planning, students develop a clear thesis and organized outline before learning how to write effective introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions.

This course focuses on clear organization, paragraph development, transitions, and the student's own ideas and voice. Students do not use outside research or citations, allowing them to focus on building a strong foundation in academic writing before moving on to research-based writing.

Throughout the course, students practice meaningful revision and editing at the global, local, and sentence levels. Weekly assignments and individualized instructor feedback guide students through each stage of the writing process, from topic development and thesis writing through drafting and final revision.

Argument Research Essay Writing
7 weeks · $150

Students learn how to develop and write a complete 700-word academic research essay through a structured, step-by-step writing process. Beginning with topic development and thesis writing, students progress through research, source evaluation, outlining, drafting, and revision to create a polished final essay.

The course combines academic writing skills with research strategies, teaching students how to incorporate credible evidence through quotations and paraphrases, use MLA citations, and create a Works Cited page. Students also learn how to revise at the global, local, and sentence levels to strengthen clarity, organization, argument development, and source integration.

Throughout the course, students receive individualized instructor feedback at each stage of the writing process, from topic selection through final revision. Weekly live instruction, guided practice, and structured assignments help students build confidence and become more independent academic writers.

SAT Reading & Writing Prep for
December 5 and March 6 SAT Test Dates
6 weeks · $175

Students develop the reading, writing, grammar, and test-taking strategies needed to succeed on the SAT Reading and Writing section. Through direct instruction, guided practice, and targeted test questions, students learn how to approach different question types, analyze passages efficiently, recognize common trap answers, and apply the grammar and punctuation rules tested on the SAT.

The course follows the Reading and Writing content and strategies presented in the Princeton Review SAT Premium Prep book. Students work through the book's chapters on SAT Reading strategies, Craft and Structure, Information and Ideas, Advanced Reading Skills, sentence structure, connecting clauses, punctuation, grammar and consistency, and Rhetoric.

Class instruction will also incorporate questions from the College Board Student Question Bank, giving students opportunities to apply the strategies they learn to real SAT questions. Class time will include direct instruction, guided practice, discussion of answer choices, and opportunities to analyze why particular answers are correct or incorrect.

Students will also complete an official College Board Bluebook practice test during the course. This full-length digital practice test will give students an opportunity to experience the digital SAT platform and adaptive testing format and apply the Reading and Writing strategies developed throughout the course.

The course is designed specifically for students preparing for the December 2026 SAT and focuses exclusively on Reading and Writing.
